Kaitlin & Nick | Woodland Park Engagement

Just down the street Kaitlin & Nick bought their first house together. On nights like these they walk their rescue dog, Basil, through the park together. Tonight it was just the two of them, talking about their upcoming wedding, reminiscing over funny ring stories, and planning their European honeymoon this fall.

We had so much fun with you two! Thanks for laughing a ton…you two sure make one happy couple. Can’t wait to do it all again for the big day! ~Erik & Marissa

Angela & Ricky | Westland Distillery Wedding

She stepped into her dress and was buttoned up by all 3 of her bridesmaids. They teared up, cracked jokes, and felt that moment when she became a bride. Angela made a bride that was both beautiful inside and out, a true kind-hearted soul.

He tucked in his handkerchief and had his boutonniere pinned on the rooftop. The view of the city and hanging with his groomsmen was the perfect start to his wedding day, one he and Angela had been meticulously planning for over a year.

The wind picked up as Angela came around the corner to see Ricky for the first time. As her veil was swept up into the air they both laughed and smiled, just as they would during their ceremony, overcome with happiness to marry one another.

Angela & Ricky, we can’t thank you enough for the honor of capturing your wedding day. You two are so perfect together and two of the kindest individuals we’ve ever met. We wish you a lifetime of laughs and happiness together. ~Erik & Marissa

Reena & David | Pike Place Market Engagement

They went to Pike Place Market, like they loved to do on so many other occasions, yet this time was different. David may have been a little more nervous than usual and accompanying him was a diamond ring hidden in his pocket.

The market is a special spot for them. A place where they go to peruse the fruit stands, smell the fresh cut flowers, and listen to live music at their favorite restaurants. One of those restaurants, Place Pigalle, a little french place with no more than 10 tables tucked away behind the fish throwers, was their destination on this special night.

As they walked through the alley that led to the front door, David stopped at the small patio which overlooks the sound and the mountains. He dropped to one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him. Reena’s surprise, the intimate proposal, and an unforgettable dinner afterwards made their engagement one perfect night at the market.

Ashley & Duncan | Parsons Garden Engagement

As he sat on the plane getting ready to descend with his soon to be fiancé there was a question on the claims form about what you were bringing. The diamond ring he had hidden wasn’t something he wanted to discuss with Ashley, since that was the biggest secret he’d ever kept from her. After faking a trip to the restroom and confirming with the flight attendants that it was indeed not something he needed to claim (since they’d be taking it back home with them!) he decided he wouldn’t waste another moment.

Once they were all checked in to their hotel they took a walk along the waterfront with a view of the Sydney Opera House at sunset. As they strolled into a botanical garden Duncan knelt and produced the hidden gem he’d been carrying across the globe. Ashley’s surprise was magnified as perfectly timed fireworks began over the water (although this was just a wonderful coincidence). Their Australian adventure had just begun and so had the next chapter of their lives together.

Can’t wait to celebrate with you two next year and hear even more Ashley-isms! ~Erik & Marissa

5 years, 6 months, you know…the big ones.

CiccarelliPhotography_0078

Since we’re quite sure we’ve been in a vortex of speedy time travel these past 6 months (and as our mothers tell us, it only gets quicker and we’ll have a teenager before we know it) we wanted to take a moment this month before wedding season to escape, just the three of us, to celebrate life…and our anniversary plus our little dude turning half a year old! Let’s call it an all in one trip. We’re all about efficiency over here now that we have an infant, so off we went to Hawaii for a little r&r on the weekend of our 5 year anniversary.

To tell the truth, long ago we had envisioned a romantic 5 year celebration on the beach (and probably without a baby), at the same resort we married in Puerto Vallarta, but a sad finding during that last month of pregnancy (which may have made it more upsetting than it really was thanks to raging hormones) showed that our quaint little hotel with private beach was sold and transformed, thus it no longer held that magical meaning. A bunch of recommendations later found us booking a trip to Kauai (luckily while still pregnant so that we couldn’t think about the consequences of traveling with an infant), gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe it.

*A side note here, isn’t it funny that the “big” anniversaries are multiples of 5? And why? Certainly every anniversary should be equally celebrated since it’s another entire year of spending your life creating memories, galavanting off on adventures and learning to love your partner more and more. In any case, we fell into the ‘5 years is a big one’ mindset and were determined to travel, baby and all.

Some things we’ve learned in 5 years of being married… (so many things, but here are 3 big ones)

1. Talk, talk, talk, talk, and then talk some more. Wow has that even become more important now with our growing family.

2. We’re much happier in our relationship when each of our love tanks are full.

3. A kiss and a hug each day goes a long way.

We are not marriage experts, but love learning through trial, error and experiences together. Here’s to the next 5 and whatever they’ll bring! xoxo

If Kauai is ever on your list, make it happen. Take a drive to some of the deserted beaches up north where the Jurassic Park-style rain forest looms in the background, dig your feet in the sand to watch for sea turtles, make a stop for some ice cream (at least once a day), and tell us if you don’t feel rejuvenated, full of love and experience at least one major life realization while among all that beauty. Aloha! ~Erik & Marissa (& Bryce too)
