Sommer & David | Queen Anne Engagement

He had an elaborate engagement planned. They went to Hawaii for vacation over the holidays and he brought the ring. Each day of vacation that he didn’t ask she thought her intuition had been incorrect and that maybe he wasn’t proposing on this trip after all.

On New Year’s Eve they’d planned to watch fireworks, but just before midnight David concocted a scheme to get Sommer walking away from the crowd where she thought they were putting their names in a raffle (if you know Sommer this was the perfect story to get her away).

As they rounded a corner a photographer took a Polaroid of the pair and handed it to Sommer. (David had previously taken the photo of himself kneeling with the ring.) When Sommer glanced at the photo and saw it was David on one knee she was momentarily confused until she looked up and saw the real David down on his knee proposing! The fireworks made for a perfect ending to this surprise proposal.

Loved capturing your love on your one month engagement anniversary! ~Marissa & Erik

Haley & Mick | Washington Athletic Club Wedding

2016-02-03_0021

They met as teenagers. That’s right, these two are high school sweethearts and it sure shows! Not only is Mick completely in love with Haley and vice versa, but they really are best friends. He just knows her and she knows him, already like an old married couple.

Their wedding day was full of the history between them, including long-time friends, fantastic stories from their past, an old high school dance photo on their invites, and heirloom rings. Throwing a little spice in with the old, Mick was quick to whistle at his beautiful bride as she rounded the corner and appeared in the aisle. He also added a huge lift along with that first kiss (thanks to all those gym workouts).

15 years and counting, these two celebrated a new turning point in their lives together, now as husband and wife.

Mick & Haley, thanks for letting us be part of your big day! ~Erik & Marissa

Kelsi & Casey | Monte Cristo Ballroom Wedding

2016-01-22_014

When you’re from Colorado it’s only fitting to get engaged on top of a mountain. Kelsi agreed to what she thought was a typical ski day with family and friends not knowing Casey had hidden away a special piece of jewelry for that particular afternoon. As they hit the slopes in the morning and felt the wind on their faces Casey kept cool going over the words he wanted to say. The group took a break for lunch at the lodge to warm up their hands and stomp out their boots. Casey suggested a photo outside with the view and when Kelsi turned he was down on one knee saying words that brought heat to her cheeks and a ring on her finger.

Their wedding was nothing short of that same magic on the mountain. Congratulations Casey & Kelsi! Your wedding day happiness was contagious. ~Erik & Marissa

2015 Photo Favorites

At each wedding and on each shoot we always look back and see that one image that brings back an emotional moment. The photo that reminds us of teary vows, a child wrapping her arms around her new sister, or that private first glance as a newly engaged, giddy couple.

We love capturing those special moments that help us remember our couples and growing families for years to come. Enjoy a look back with us at all the love and happiness we caught in 2015!

Cheers to all of our couples, families and clients that make our “job” such an honor. ~Erik & Marissa

Our 2015 Behind the Scenes

Happy 2016! This is always the time of year that we update our portfolio and although we cannot wait to share some of our favorite 2015 images with you…we also found some real doozies. Those behind the scenes images of ourselves that look ridiculous or highlight some of the crazy things we do for our clients.

Enjoy. ~Erik & Marissa

Erik always starts a session with his famous pep-talk…if it feels awkward, it looks awesome!

2016-01-07_0034

Erik got cuffed with one of our client’s real handcuffs. He looks too happy about it!

2016-01-07_0036

Sometimes our job is more than photography…we fix bustles…

2016-01-07_0037

comb back loose hairs…

2016-01-07_0049

hold bouquets for brides…

2016-01-07_0057

carry lots of bags…

2016-01-07_0041

button cuffs…

2016-01-07_0054

chauffeur our couples to cool photo locations,

2016-01-07_0060

and help brides down huge hills in high heels…even when 8 months pregnant.

2016-01-07_0052

And sometimes our clients go above and beyond to help us!

2016-01-07_0059

We also take test shots to get our lighting.

Carlos the cat decided to test out our in-home studio. One of our final photo shoots of the year was on our baby’s due date…photographing a baby!
2016-01-07_0055

Loved taking maternity photos of our friend Barrie! Oh yeah, and Marissa was 8.5 months pregnant so we had to do a bump photo.

What a year! Thanks to everyone who smiled at our terrible jokes and laughed when Erik photo bombed you. Can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store! ~Erik & Marissa
