Shawna & Scott | Discovery Park Engagement

This is called love at first sight. The story goes like this…Shawna joined an internet dating site one night and was matched with Scott so she took a leap of faith and scheduled drinks for the very next night. It only happened to be Valentine’s Day! She was nervous as she drove to meet up on such a romantic evening, but those nerves quickly turned to butterflies when she saw him. They talked into the night and closed down the place then “made out like teenagers” in the parking lot. He was her one and only internet match-up date. She deactivated her account later that week knowing he was the one!

Shawna & Scott we loved meeting you two and seeing your fun, giddiness for each other. Thanks for a wonderful session and for including us in your big day! ~Erik & Marissa

Hammond Family | Columbus Family Photographer

This family. L.O.V.E. We’re so lucky to call them long time friends! Erik went to middle school with Stephanie and she’s been one of my best friends since freshman year of high school. When she added Mike to her life we couldn’t be happier with her choice of other half and now they have two freakin adorable kids that we get to visit in Ohio. Of course we never get to see them enough, but thank goodness for social media. When we do get together with the old gang it feels like nothing has changed and we go right back to catching up, eating good food, watching the game, and now chasing after the toddlers.

Thanks Steph & Mike for letting us document your sweet family! We love and miss you all! So glad we could visit and take photos too. ~Erik & Marissa

Larson Family | Maternity & Newborn Photographer

When we first moved to Seattle and were setting up shop we decided to market ourselves at a wedding show in downtown Seattle. We didn’t know anyone in the area and were the new folks in town so they stuck us in the back corner. Somehow we still met the most amazing couples, many of whom we still know today! Meghan & Luke are one of those fantastic couples. They were married in 2013 and we’ve seen them almost every summer at a wedding since!

This year we got to meet them for a totally non-wedding related reason! They were excited to capture the changes in their family with their very own little miracle baby. This winter we met at Discovery Park to photograph Meghan’s cute bump (and to include their first child- fur baby Lily) and last month baby Ben made his arrival and become our latest tiny model. Being a 3 week old means he’s already working on those chubby cheeks plus we think he may have started smiling at our session! And you know we love a good hair baby!

Meghan & Luke we are so happy for you two! Ben is so sweet and makes the perfect addition to your family. Thank you for letting us document another big moment in your lives together. ~Erik & Marissa

A blast from the past, 2013, when Meghan & Luke said I Do!

Welcome baby Rhys!

It’s been a bit quiet around here the past month (well, at least on our blog and Instagram!) as we took some time to enjoy our latest adventure. In actuality it’s a lot noisier at our house these days with the new addition of our baby! Rhys Raymond decided to make a grand entrance, arriving 7 days after his due date (read our last pregnancy post) with a giant splash (my water broke, get it?) on 2.3.18 and we couldn’t be happier. He planned his arrival perfectly while we didn’t have any shoots or weddings booked, but did come overnight which meant no sleep for 48 hours for us! Luckily we had just eaten at one of our favorite spots, Uneeda Burger, so we were energized on burgers, fries and shakes!

We both agree that one of the best parts at the hospital was not only meeting Rhys for the first time, but having Bryce come to meet him. After a little hesitation on Bryce’s part, coming in the hospital for the first time was a big new event, he sprang into action asking for “baby Rhys”. Watching our little (now he looks so big!) toddler climb onto the hospital bed to hold Rhys on his lap was the cutest thing ever. Granted, the novelty of having a baby brother wore off by the end of the week, but we’ll cherish those first few big brother kisses and gentle pats forever.

The past 3 weeks (cannot believe it’s been 3 already!) have literally flown by as we adjust our love and home to squeeze in a new member, juggle two little guys, snuggle baby, smell baby’s head (the best smell), shower big brother with loads of love, and remember how to do this newborn thing all over again. I remember being super nervous while pregnant that Rhys would change our family and that I wouldn’t have enough love to go around. I just love Bryce so much I couldn’t fathom how I could feel that way again. But an article I read mentioned that you don’t just split your love once a new baby comes. Instead, your love grows, expanding to a new level you didn’t even realize you were capable of. This ended up being so true, but not something I could understand until after having Rhys. Of course having Rhys would change our family, but he changed it for the better, giving us all more love to share, new experiences, and Bryce the newest title of big brother.

We’re loving every minute with Rhys (although admittedly sometimes I black out during those night feedings) and are so grateful to all the people who have showered us with love, congratulations and food! We couldn’t do it without our village.

Welcome to the world baby Rhys, we love you! ~Erik & Marissa

Our newest little guy has definitely already been subjected to many photo sessions to document the beginning of his life. Poor photographer kids, they’ll definitely be sick of our cameras in no time!
