Clara & Tanner | Surprise Proposal Golden Gardens

He’d told her they were going to a concert at the beach. The forecast called for rain (it is winter in Seattle after all), but after some deliberation he decided we should just go for it, rain and all…it was going to be perfect.

She suspected nothing as they walked along the empty beach in the rain with their dog. As they reached the water, Tanner bent down to put a special handkerchief around their pup to help with the big ask.

Fennel, the pup, helped by pushing Clara forwards towards Tanner and wrapping them up in his leash (and also tugging like crazy with excitement). Clara was caught completely by surprise and agreed that it was the perfect proposal, rain on their favorite beach with their pup in tow.

Werner Family Year 5 | Golden Gardens

Love capturing our friends and watching their kiddos grow each year, not only with our eyes, but through our lens. This session was seriously cold, but you wouldn’t know it by the smiles and rambunctious, action shots we got!

Kate & Keaton | Olympic Rooftop Pavilion Wedding

When two best friends decide to get married, you know it’s going to be spectacular.

From our first phone call these two knew what they wanted- to celebrate their love with their loved ones. Everything was gorgeous and thought out. From the elegant design (and super-chic outfits…check out Kate’s lace sleeves and the inside of Keaton’s custom jacket) to the laughter and overwhelming feeling of joy people felt to celebrate these two, this wedding day was everything. Oh, and the timing of the sunshine during the ceremony was on point! Plus a little rain for some cool portraits didn’t hurt.

Kate & Keaton, you two deserved this amazing day and so much more. Your love for each other is so obvious and we know this is just the beginning for you two. Congratulations and thank you so much for letting me be a part of it! ~Marissa

Sytsma Family | Gas Works Park Photographer

I met so many wonderful new families this year! I’m pumped to see the kiddos grow and the parents evolve for years to come.

Amy and I had planned this session for sunrise and got so lucky with sunshine and clear skies (this fall was a doozy for rain ya’ll, never have I ever had so many reschedules)! The sun made everyone happy and we soon shed our coats while Smith (the little guy) had us running all over the park. I was literally sweating by the end, it was an action-packed shoot with a joyfully, active toddler!

Thanks Sytsma Family! What a fun, candid-filled session highlighting exactly what it’s like to have a toddler. I appreciate your playfulness, love, and patience as we let Smith do his thing! Looking forward to catching up with you all again. ~Marissa

Erica & Aaron | Rattlesnake Lake Engagement

Her co-worker convinced her to sub on the work baseball team, suggesting there was a single guy she should meet. Erica wasn’t actually into baseball, but she came along and was a good sport about it. While hanging in the dugout she was introduced to Aaron who was thrilled to meet someone he thought also liked baseball! He invited her to sub at another game and subsequently asked her out on their first date, which was a home run!

Eventually she came clean that baseball wasn’t the love of her life or even her favorite sport, but they’d already fallen for each other in so many ways that it didn’t matter. She will sub when asked 😉

Congrats you two! Can’t wait to capture all the fun next summer for the big day! ~Erik & Marissa
