Molly & Taylor | Discovery Park Engagement

They’d known each other a LONG time. Rewind all the way back to 10th grade summer camp when they met over camp songs, s’mores and fireside chats (we may be indulging our imagination a bit). There was no dating or exchanging of information, but a few years later, once they’d both graduated from separate colleges (UW and WSU rivals as it was) they ran into each other. She had befriended his high-school friends during college at UW. As they were both returning home, finding jobs, and catching up with friends they were reacquainted. It was oh so lucky they were because these two fell deeply in love (we like to think it was because of camp all those years ago) and are now getting married this summer!

Molly & Taylor, you two were so, so fun and easy to work with! Let’s do it all again this September okay? 😉 ~Erik & Marissa

Sample Family | At Home Newborn

This is the way we love to meet new babies. A relaxed in-home session spent snuggling, swaddling, smooching and maybe a little screaming (from the newborns of course). These twin baby girls are more precious than they look on camera! And they’ve made their parents so happy. What’s amazing is how quickly Meghan & Chris took to parenting, especially since it’s double of everything! They’re already experts at holding both, soothing both, feeding both, and loving on both.

Meghan & Chris we hope it’s always double the fun with these two. Congrats again, they’re beautiful! ~Erik & Marissa

Because Bella is the protector-big-sis and this was just too fun to not capture on camera before the parents swooped in to sooth. Sorry baby girls!

Samantha & Igor | Ballard Engagement

They had recently moved to Ballard so it seemed the perfect fit for a walk (one of their favorite things to do together). They talked and laughed and would occasionally peer up at us when we called them for a more traditional smiley portrait. Otherwise these two were just together, as if on a date alone, our perfect engagement photo situation!

Certainly this perfect, bubbly, laughing pair were made for each other, but it took a lot of circumstances to get them in the same place and time (and the luck of the internet). Their instant attraction was based on her awe of the many languages he speaks. He was intrigued by the Bavarian dress she wore in her online photo. All it took was one or two little sparks (and a whole lot of joint love for Harry Potter) and now these love birds will be married this summer!

Samantha & Igor, we are so happy you two found each other! Your chemistry is so fun to photograph. Can’t wait for more chats, laughs, and fun at the wedding! ~Erik & Marissa

Pallavi & Murali | Discovery Park Maternity

Being a mother, these shoots have become dear to my heart. Seeing these women on the cusp of motherhood is so exciting, full of anticipation and such a joyous time (plus hopefully they’re stocking up on sleep and long showers…right moms?). Pallavi was just the sweetest soon-to-be-mother on the planet, giggling over the size of her belly and baby kicks. She really did glow as we spoke of her nervousness about becoming a mom and all the last minute things they were looking forward to, like setting up baby’s room and packing their hospital bag. What a happy time!

Pallavi & Murali, thank you so much for letting me document this moment in your lives. I absolutely loved meeting you two! ~Marissa

15 Year PROMiversary

On Sunday we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, but hold up…because an even more fantastic anniversary is today! That’s right, 15 years ago today…these two kids below went to prom. We know you’re jealous of the hair, full blown sparkles, and all the early 2000’s ridiculousness (although I’d pay to see Erik in a tux again, so handsome!).

Rewind a month to the day after school when I was heading out to track practice and realized, while doing my first warm-up lap, that Erik had written with cups in a fence (do people still do that?) asking me to prom. It was a huge deal asking and the guys/gals at our school would try to come up with unique and grand ways, honestly not unlike a proposal!

After practice, I pulled out my archaic mobile device…flipped it open and pulled out the antenna (this is all real) in my Dodge neon and told him YES!

A few other couples pitched in for a limo and we rode in style to the dance, laughing (perhaps doing some underage drinking), snapping pictures (I was the photog even then thinking I was fancy with my film point and shoot plus a few disposable cameras), and doing one of the things we love best- dancing.

By the end of the night we realized we needed to go get our portrait taken (hence the red, sweaty faces) and are so, so, so grateful for these photos to look back on. Secretly we wish we could be prom photographers just for one night to see all the ridiculousness over again!

How did all that time fly by? No clue. But I’m so grateful for the 15 years worth of laughs, dance offs, and even the quiet moments together on the couch once Bryce is asleep when we get to catch up, dream big, and reminisce. Love you so much Erik Ciccarelli! ~M

(Please excuse the photos of photos and the photos of scrapbook pages, haha, no digital images from those days! Oh yes, and I was an avid scrapbooker too…)

PS- Love also goes out to the numerous friends who didn’t know this post was coming who may be in some of the photos below. xoxo Thanks guys!

And for the close-ups…
