Ashley & Duncan | Sodo Park Wedding

CiccarelliPhotography_0926

The lights were lit, guests seated and wedding party looking sharp in tuxes and little black dresses. Ashley’s mother and friends had spent hours decorating Sodo Park with loads of greenery and lots of love. Everyone rose to their feet as Ashley gripped her dad’s elbow. She walked down the aisle with all the giddiness of a woman marrying the man she knew would be the one. As they slowly made their way toward Duncan, her Ashley-isms (as Duncan calls them) came pouring out in her excited faces to see the people she loves all there to celebrate.

Just an hour before we had been tromping through alleys in and around Sodo finding urban nooks for photos when a light mist came unexpectedly raining down on us. While we shielded Ashley with our reflector and their amazing coordinator Laura came sprinting with umbrellas Ashley & Duncan just laughed, enjoying every moment of this day. Taking advantage of the sun and the rain we snagged a few photos (Ashley- you are so amazing to not care about a little wet for a great photo) and spotted a rainbow over their venue.

Not that Ashley & Duncan need any good omens for their solid-full-of-love relationship, but it was certainly an amazing moment, just taking in a beautiful sight on such a perfect day. Congratulations Ashley & Duncan! You two sweeties deserve each other plus a lifetime of love and happiness. We couldn’t be more excited for you both! ~Erik & Marissa

Eric, Joey & Maya | Issaquah Family Photographer

When love is love and family is family.

Boy do we love what we do, capturing small moments in time for families like Eric, Joey & Maya. Their story of becoming a family isn’t standard, but those make the best stories anyway. They knew they wanted a family and Maya decided to come into their lives sooner than expected. These two dads leap head-first into fatherhood and are showering love on Maya with dance parties, reading books splayed out on the floor, patting the dogs, and exploring the natural beauty of the PNW.

Thank you for inviting us into your home, to see a peek of your lives together as a family. ~Erik & Marissa

Laura & Matt | Discovery Park Engagement

A blind coffee date was going well so they decided to continue their date and carpooled to the movie theater. When he left the theater to grab a drink at the concession stand she got a text that said, “Hey, not really feeling a connection, so I think I am going to head out. Hope you can find a ride back to your car.” She said she was 90% certain/hoping it was a joke so she texted back, “Same here. No worries. I’ll be fine.” A few minutes later Matt walked back down the aisle with his drink and a smile on his face…they’d found their humor match for sure!

How Thanksgiving got a new name.

This year we titled the holiday Brycegiving, because well, not only is Bryce at the top of our list to be thankful for, but this year it also marked his one year around the sun, or a whole year of us surviving parenthood aka an entire year of us keeping our baby alive. (Is he still called a baby? It’s likely he is now considered a toddler, but like our mothers remind us he’ll always be our baby.)

Remembering back on this year, our first with this bright light in our lives, is sort of a wonderful blurry mess. There were some late nights (or mornings rather), the kind we used to have in college but instead of being out dancing with friends we were rocking a crying bundle trying to figure out what in the world we were doing wrong (although I’m sure there was some of that in college too).

Sleepless nights gave way to happy days like the one we shared as a family on the carpet building towers for Bryce to topple on the day he proudly learned to crawl. Watching his face when he drank seltzer water for the first time or after his little friends learned to pull his hair gave us giggles. The pitiful day we finally got him a haircut (sorry 18 year old Bryce for waiting so long, but we loved your man bun) and how he finally became quick enough to body slam the cats (much to our delight, but not to the cat’s).

There were times we didn’t know what to do, times we loved, times we probably would be okay forgetting, and times we wished we remembered. As we heard from a friend, “the days are long, but the weeks are fast”. Cherishing each moment, like last week’s celebrations with our one year old, are a constant reminder that life goes quickly so we’re trying to drink up every sweet drop of our Sir Brycington.

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! ~Erik & Marissa
